Playhouse Disney use to have a character named Clay on it. This was a little, yellow ball of clay who was a lot of fun. It was their quintessential character. He was able to morph into anything that he wanted to be. In fact, he was actually able to do this several times in just a matter of only 30 seconds. This type of activity was what preschoolers really enjoyed about him. He was so active that he could take their imagination to any place at any time. Since he used this to teach children things, most parents did not have a problem with him either.

It is interesting that the Playhouse Disney character Clay was the character that young children actually learned to love first. However, as you can probably see quite clearly, it really should not be any wonder why so many children love this character. After all, children are truly drawn to exciting, colorful things, which this character definitely was. While this character was always seen sitting on or near alphabet blocks, his “job” was actually to take a minute to introduce each show as it comes on. As such, he made it a point to become your child's friend and act like it too.

Clay also had a friend on Playhouse Disney who was a piece of paper named Page. Her job was to teach children a new word each day. This word was written on Page and there was also a picture of this word placed upon her as well.

As you can see, all of this was done in a way that was really easy for small children to remember and was not difficult for them to relate to either. Parents also liked this though because both characters were very imaginative and made learning fun.
